McARTHUR, Margaret Rose (nee Bahula) June 14, 1939 – February 23, 2025 in her 86th year passed away peacefully with family present with her at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe on February 23, 2025. Margaret was the wife of 62 years to David George McArthur who predeceased her in June 2020. She was mother to Lisa (Tim) Dedrick who predeceased her in November 2022 and is survived by children, Mike (Carol) McArthur, Sharon (Todd) Saunders, grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Schick, Melissa (J.P.) Ellis, Mark (Jess) McArthur, Heather McArthur, Becky (Brett) Mitchell, Alison (Alex) Londono, Kyle (Taome) Dedrick, Ashley (Colten) Dedrick and cherished great-grandchildren Lane, Jackson, Olivia, Jacob, Nathan, Kayden, Connor, Lucas, Celine and Palmer. Margaret was the eldest child born to Frank Bahula and Mary (nee Jacob) and raised on the family farms near Forestville along with many nearby uncles, aunts and close cousins. She is survived by her brother Ed Bahula (Diana), Ellen Shepherd (Larry), and sister-in-law Diane Boyko (Ray). Predeceased by her siblings, Mary Ann Deserrano (Angelo) and Frank Bahula (Laura), and sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Mary Cubit (Joe), Greta Lewis (Charlie), Jean Holmes (Vic), Gladys Squires (Albert), Henry McArthur (Ruth), Bertha Rive (Bernie). Also survived by many close and loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Margaret has always been a touchstone and example of loving kindness, perseverance and faithfulness for family, friends and countless others. She loved to read widely, to travel across Canada and internationally with her husband, to enjoy Saturday morning tea, treats and laughs, to hold and see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and to pray for everyone’s betterment. Her presence quietly radiated every situation with a warm smile, beauty, easy laugh and peacefulness. She loved attending St. Mary’s Church, exemplified 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and The Beatitudes. During their 62 years of marriage, David and Margaret owned and operated McArthur’s Source for Sports which became a retail, social and focal point in many ways for the family, friends and community. Friends are invited to share their memories of Margaret with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk Street North, Simcoe for visitation on Friday, February 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the chapel on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 2:00 pm presided over by Brian Klooster. Gathering for refreshment and memories will follow at a nearby designated location. Internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery privately with immediate family will be held on a future date.
