Friday January 24, 2025

IRELAND, Lynda Marie (nee Williams) - at Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, on Friday, January 24th, 2025, in her 76th year. Beloved wife for 55 years to Mark Ireland of Simcoe. Predeceased by her father Glen C. Williams (2008) and her mother Mary Williams (nee Feduck - 2021). Loving mother and grandmother of Mark Ireland Jr. (Kerry) of Wilsonville; Kevin Ireland of Brantford and his son Brayden; and Andrea Ireland (Aaron Ward) of Delhi, and their children Jaden, Liam, Masen and Bronwyn. Lynda is survived by her siblings Richard Williams (Al Lennarz) of Merida, Mexico, David Williams (Charlene) of Tillsonburg, Kathy Bulbeck (Lloyd) of Tillsonburg, John Williams (Michelle) of Fonthill, Kimberly Williams (Brian MacDonald) of Langley, BC., and Cynthia Williams of Merida, Mexico. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lynda has selflessly donated her body to science. Lynda dedicated her life to working hard. It started with her helping to raise her 6 younger siblings as a teenager. She raised 3 kids of her own, then worked in the farm fields in tobacco and vegetables, until deciding to go back to school. She graduated from Conestoga College as an RPN (registered practical nurse) in 1988 at 38 years old. She worked most of her nursing career at St Joseph’s Hospital in Brantford and retired when it closed. Lynda was fiercely protective of her family, especially her grandchildren, and she always showered her whole family with love. She was never happier than when all her kids and grandkids were close to her. Once she retired, she and Mark moved to a home in Port Severn where entertaining, boating and enjoying life became the norm. They started travelling and spending winters in Arizona. In 2015, they bought a large RV, which became their home for the next 7 years. Summers were spent in Port Dover and most winters were spent in Arizona, with lots of travel throughout North America in between. Lynda was an amazing artist, including painting, calligraphy and crafts. She had a very green thumb. It seems like every plant she had was big and healthy! Lynda was also an awesome cook, and she loved creating dishes for all of us. A special favourite for everyone is affectionately called “Grandma’s famous chicken.” Lynda was such an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed so very much. Arrangements entrusted to the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe. A celebration of life has been planned for March 22, 2025 at the South Brant Legion, 72 King Street North, Oakland, ON. from 1-4pm.
