Death Notices

BENSON, Brenda Patricia (nee McConomy) – after a courageous 6 month battle with gastro-intestinal disorders, Brenda passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, December 25th, 2024 in her 80th year.  Beloved wife of 55+ years to Lyle Benson of Port Dover.  Loving mother & grandmother of Kerri-Lee Benson of Grimsby, her son Ethan;  and Ryan Benson (Mara) of Milton, their sons Brayden & Nicholas.  Brenda will also be sadly missed by her brothers Bud McConomy (late Yvette) of Montreal and Terry McConomy (late Pat) of Ontario.  Predeceased by siblings Shirley Caughlin and Doug McConomy (late Lillian).  Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous dear friends.  A private family celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at a later date.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Brenda are asked to consider the Ontario Healthcare Coalition.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
