Saundra STANLEY

STANLEY, Saundra Gayle (nee Boville) - passed away peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 after a short illness in her 84th year. Saundra was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Stanley (2020).  Cherished mother of David Stanley (Louise) of Welland and Rebecca Stanley (Robert Groves) of Campbellville. Much loved grandmother of Robert and Kathleen.  Predeceased by her parents, the late Dora & George Chorpitta, by her sister Elizabeth (Terry) Moore and brothers David and Michael Chorpitta.  Saundra is survived by her brothers Neil (Marlene) Chorpitta, Terry (Patricia) Chorpitta, sister Laurie (Clive) Cappe and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.  Saundra was born in Sudbury but at a young age her family moved to Norfolk County where she spent most of her life.  Saundra was a longtime employee of the Toronto Dominion Bank in Burford.  After retirement, Saundra discovered a love for gardening and flowers when she and Bob took over a century farm property near Port Rowan.  Along with the gardening, she and Bob operated Green Valley Bed and Breakfast from the farmhouse where many fond memories were made.  Saundra was a long time member of the St Williams Chapter of the Woman’ s Institute; she also enjoyed volunteering for the Norfolk Friends of the Library (supporting the Port Rowan Branch), the Norfolk County Fair, the Port Rowan Thrift Shoppe, and the Simcoe Horticultural Society.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Saundra with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe where a public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27th, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning with LPM Phyllis Buchner officiating.  Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Saundra are asked to consider the Norfolk County Public Library or the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.  The Family would like to thank the staff from Cedar Crossing Retirement Home, Ontario Health at Home and Norfolk General Hospital for their care and kindness in the past few months.
