DECKERS, Bernard Gerard Leon “Bernie” – surrounded by his loving family at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Saturday, August 31st, 2024 in his 70th year.  Beloved husband of Joanne Deckers of Simcoe.  Cherished son of Ann Marie (nee Meseure) Deckers of Courtland and the late Amedee Deckers (2014).  Loving father & grandfather of Michael Deckers (Stacy Pitre) of Simcoe, daughter Jocelyn and Adam Deckers of Simcoe, his sons Jonah & Elijah.  Dear brother to his twin sister Lillian Remmerie (Stefaan) of Courtland and John Deckers of Langton.  Bernie will be lovingly remembered by Joanne’s brother Jim Boyd (Valerie) and by nieces, nephews & extended family.  Predeceased by Joanne’s siblings, the late Janice Brown (late Fred) and the late Robert & Rick Boyd.  Bernie will be sadly missed by his four-legged friend “Snickers”.  Bernie was a volunteer fire fighter in Port Rowan for 24 years and worked at Canada Wire & Cable for more than 43 years.  He loved to hunt and attending car shows with his 1955 Olds nicked named “Root Beer”.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Private interment of ashes: Delhi Cemetery.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Bernie are asked to consider Purrfect Companion Animal Rescue.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
