LA PLANTE, Douglas Edwin – passed away at the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, Simcoe on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 in his 98th year.  Beloved husband of the late Muriel La Plante (nee Maidment – 2023).  Loving father of Barry La Plante (Pam) of Simcoe, the late Karen La Plante (1995), Brian La Plante (Donna) of Simcoe and Blair La Plante (Kim) of Simcoe / Mexico.  Cherished grandfather & great grandfather of Ashley La Plante, her children Nyla & Hayden; Breigh McCallum (Mike), children Chase, Rowyn & Emery; Meghan Proctor (Jeremy), children Lenyn & Kove; and Sky Lesage (Chris), children Hunter, Hope & Holly.  Lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews & extended family.  Predeceased by his brothers Jack, Donald & Kenneth La Plante.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 79, Simcoe on Saturday, July 27th, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Doug are asked to consider the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
