PETERS, Joyce Margaret (nee Hubick) – promoted to the loving arms of her Lord & Saviour at her home on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. James Peters (2022). Loving mother of Tom Peters (Judy) of Guelph, Jim Peters Jr. of Pemberton, BC; John Peters (Shelley) of Simcoe, Jody Slater (Drew) of Port Dover and Aster Shiferaw of Simcoe. Proud grandmother & great grandmother of Darelle (Terry), children Ruby & Nixon; Cameron (Klaudia); Cole (Alisa); Jana (Michael); Caleb; Daniel; Meseret; Nathan; Emily (Greg), children Hannah, Ben & Ethan; Melissa; Josh (Jessica), children Leo, Allie, Jared, Troy & Laina. Lovingly remembered by her siblings Dianne Marchuk and Aden Hubick (late Sharon), all of Regina. Predeceased by her sisters Adena Handley and Eileen Faller. Joyce Marget Hubick, a Strasbourg Saskatchewan girl, finished high school and became a nurse at the Regina General School of Nursing. After marrying the love of her life, Jim Peters, they came east to London so Jim could pursue Medicine, and Joyce could practice nursing. Joyce’s nursing career was short. After arriving in Simcoe in 1965, she quickly turned to another full-time job; growing a family of four kids. Joyce could regularly be seen around Simcoe sports venues watching her kids play hockey, baseball, figure skate, swim, or music lessons. Joyce and the family were avid skiers as well. Joyce could regularly be seen on the slopes at Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood sporting one of her classy red or black ski suits and chasing her kids all over the hills. Joyce also loved gardening, cooking and was always up for a good rom-com movie and a good laugh! Outside of family, Joyce became very active in the Simcoe community over the years, especially with her church family at Emmanuel Bible Church. Joyce was passionate about her faith, the mission of the church, and its outreach into the community. Joyce served the church tirelessly as a Youth Leader and in the church kitchen for many years. Joyce extended her outreach into missionary work along with Dr. Jim in 1992. They did two tours in Bangladesh where Joyce helped serve at a remote mission hospital south of Dhakka for several months at a time. Joyce continues to this day to support the Bangladesh Hospital and the dedicated staff and organization she so loved. To Joyce, practicing her faith through teaching the young and helping the disadvantaged was life itself. Friends are invited to share their memories of Joyce with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Monday, June 17th, 2024 from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. Joyce’s homegoing service will be held at Emmanuel Bible Church, 24 Churchill Circle, Simcoe on Tuesday, June 18th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Andrew Bunner officiating. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe. Those wishing to donate in memory of Joyce are asked to consider Across Boarders for World Evangelism (ABWE) or the Memorial Christian Hospital, Bangladesh.
