Al BISHOP
Tuesday February 27, 2024

BISHOP, Al – passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the young age of 66.  Al was adored by his wife, confidant, and best friend of 36 years, Nancy Bishop.  Al’s greatest pride was his girls, Kate and Steph. Through Kate he gained a son in James and grandchildren, Ali (7) & Ben (4) – each of whom brought indescribable joy and meaning to his life.  Our hearts go out to his mother, Miriam Bishop (late Wallace), who is enduring the unimaginable pain of losing a child a second time – predeceased by his brother Don Bishop (2018).  Similarly, he will be dearly missed by his siblings with whom he was incredibly close despite the physical distance of being spread across the country: Ken & Jacqueline Bishop, Keith & Betty-Ann Bishop, Marlene & Ed Gall, and Michael Bishop. Al was also a true brother and friend to Nancy’s family Barb & Joe McGill and Marg & Dave Loader. His nieces, nephews, and extended family remember him as someone who loved unconditionally, someone who made life more fun, and someone who was always there for them when life got hard.  He touched countless lives through church communities, volunteering, a long career in the toy business, and friendships that weathered all seasons of life.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Al with his family at Evergreen Heights Christian Fellowship, 140 Oak St., Simcoe for visitation on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tamille Richardson officiating.  Al’s family is comforted by an unwavering faith that they will see him again.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Al are asked to consider South Coast Community Caring For Cancer.  Donations may be made by cash or cheque at the church during either the visitation or memorial service, or via e-transfer to communitycaringforcancer@gmail.com.  Personal condolences may be made at www.smithfuneralchapel.com
