RAE, Shirley Ann (nee McCaugherty) - beloved wife of the late Douglas Rae, has passed away at age 91 on January 23rd, 2024.  Shirley was born in Streetsville, Ontario, but Simcoe Ontario has been her home for over 70 years.  She was a loving, big sister to her McCaugherty siblings Kaye Barrett (late Stan) of Thornbury, the late David McCaugherty, Susan Malan of Victoria BC, and John McCaugherty (Mary) of Sault Ste. Marie.  In the extended Rae, Nurse and McCaugherty families she will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.  Shirley came to Simcoe for her first job in 1952 in the Dietary Dept. of Norfolk General Hospital and retired as Head of the Department in 1997.  Shirley was an avid gardener, an enthusiastic birdwatcher, and a huge Blue Jays fan.  She was very active in community charitable organizations such as IODE and the NGH Volunteer Association.  Her family thanks the staff at Cedarwood Apartments for all their kindnesses these past few years as well as Victoria Eldercare, The Alzheimer's Society and HHCCSS.  A private interment of ashes will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. N.
