Death Notices

SPIETAELS, Bessie Irene (nee Mayo) – passed away at her home on Friday, January 13th, 2023 in her 83rd year.  Beloved wife of the late George Spietaels (2017).  Loving mother of Donna Spietaels (Doug Morris) of LaSalette and Debbie Pike (Kirk) of Simcoe.  Cherished grandmother & great grandmother of Megan (Roger Funstin), children Riley & Holden; Larissa Cox; Justin; Elissa (Josh Dennison), children Reese & Zachary; and Andy (Sarah Kamping).  Sadly missed by her step-grandchildren Evee & Annalee.  Bessie will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Dorothy Ashley (Larry), Pat Wrightman (Bill), Hazel Miller, Charlie Mayo (Marie) and by nieces, nephews & extended family.  Predeceased by her siblings Joan, Shirley, Marjorie, Carolyn, Clarence & George.  A celebration of life will be held at the Army & Navy Club, 53 Water St. Simcoe on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Bessie are asked to consider Purrfect Companions Cat Rescue or the MS Society.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
