HARVEY, Thomas “Tom” Harold Owen – passed away surrounded by his loved ones at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, October 24th, 2022 in his 83rd year.  Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Liz” Harvey of Simcoe, in their 59th year of marriage.  Son of the late James Owen Harvey and Gertrude Stage Harvey of Simcoe. Loving father of Chris (Constance), Greg (Cheryl) and Kimberly Harris (Paul), all of Simcoe.  Cherished grandfather of Bryn Thomson (Lauren), Kennedy, Berkeley (Majeed), Staige, Liam & Landon, and great grandfather of Anders Thomson.  Tom will be sadly missed by his sisters Alice Beck (late Warren) and Edith VanDyk, both of Simcoe.  Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews & extended family.  Tom was never seen without his wife, they loved travelling together, gardening, going for long walks, and caring for their children and grandchildren. Tom was a principal and elementary school teacher in Norfolk for 35 years. During his time, he served as President of the Men’s Teacher Federation of Norfolk, and President of The Principal’s Association representing Norfolk at the Provincial level, Chairperson of the negotiating team for many years. When the metric system was introduced, Tom conducted a number of workshops to teachers of Norfolk and the community. Tom retired from teaching in 1995. Tom was an active member of the Simcoe community, serving for many organizations such as The Simcoe Lion’s Club, Convener of Simcoe Minor Hockey, The United Alumni Drum Corps, Scout House and the Royal Blues Band, First Serving, and member and Trustee of First Baptist Church in Simcoe. Tom was a fighter, beating cancer twice and earning the nickname, “Miracle Man”. Friends are invited to share their memories of Tom with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe, for visitation on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Tom’s funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, 129 Young St., Simcoe, on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darrell Maguire officiating.  Interment:  Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Tom are asked to consider First Baptist Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
