BROWN, Alan James (1933-2022) - it is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alan James Brown.  Alan “Al” Brown passed away in his 90th year on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 at Norfolk General Hospital in his home town of Simcoe, Ontario.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary “Hattie” (nee Pritchard), as well as children Brian Gordon (Adriana) and Julia Gordon, both of Victoria, British Columbia.  He is predeceased by his father Harold and mother Alice (nee Lockyer) and siblings Tom, Bessie, Norma, Gord, Fred, Dorothy and Marion. He will be dearly missed by several loving nieces, nephews and grandchildren.  Alan was born in Simcoe, Ontario on April 26th, 1933.  He worked hard in his life, serving five years in the air force and acquiring an engineering degree as a young man and dedicating his career to Brown-Boveri Canada Ltd., where he was Vice President of Sales.  His true love was spending time with friends and family in his home of Norfolk County, where he lived following his retirement.  He was an avid boater, winemaker, and golfer and loved to entertain at “the farm,” the home he shared with Mary on the shores of Lake Erie.  Alan will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and loving support of his family and friends.  The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Alan’s niece Jennifer, her husband John and friend Laurie for their loving support over the recent months.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Alan with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Monday, October 24th, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.  A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Barrie Bain officiating.  Interment of ashes:  Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Alan are asked to consider the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
