BACH, Hildegard (nee Eckert) 1926-2022 - surrounded by loving family at the Norview Lodge Nursing Home, Simcoe on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 in her 96th year.  Beloved wife of the late John Bach (2003).  Loving mother of Peter (Michele) of Waterford & Christa Fleming (Dale) of New Brunswick.  Cherished Oma & Omi to Peter Bach Jr, Andre Bach, Brad Woods (Angela), children Tyra & Faith;  Jennifer Bruno (Nick), daughter Isabella;  Anthony Bretschneider (Leslie), children Virginia & Miles; and Angela Slaght (Greg), children Troy, Jordyn & Clay.  Survived by her very special nephew Jürgen Sommer in Bonn, Germany & extended family.  Lovingly remembered by in-laws Elaine, Donna, Judy and Tom Haskett.  Remembered by many special friends & by her favourite feathered friend “Kookie”.  Predeceased by her parents Hermann (1966) & Maria (nee Sommer) Eckert (1930), by her brothers Erich (1998) & Helmut (1934) and by John’s sister Katharina (2003) & Josef Bach (2002).  Hilde & John immigrated from England and made Canada their home in 1957.  They purchased their farm in 1962 selling fresh produce and cash crops and became known as Oma & Opa to many.  Hilde was a past member of the Silver Lake Rebekah Lodge #150, the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario and T.O.P.S.  A very special thank you to all the staff of Norview for going above and beyond to keep all residents’ safe, and to the staff on Poplar Heights for the excellent care you all gave Hilde during her stay.  A special thanks to Hannah for all the “Face Times” and outdoor visits you provided us with during the pandemic.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Hilde with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation of Monday, October 3rd, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  A Rebekah Service will be held Monday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.  Hilde’s funeral service will take place in the chapel on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Raymond Thompson officiating.  Private interment of ashes:  Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Hilde are asked to consider Norview Lodge (cheque payable to Norfolk County) or to Saint Elizabeth Health Care.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
