Rick RUST

RUST, Richard Joseph “Rick” - surrounded by his loving family;  promoted to the arms of his Lord & Saviour on Sunday, July 31st, 2022 in his 58th year.  A precious husband, father and grandfather.  There are no words to describe how much we will miss him.  Rick was born on February 5th, 1965 to Theodore & Elizabeth (nee Van de Laar) Rust, immigrants from Holland.  He loved his hometown of Simcoe, Ontario, Canada where he was born and raised, became saved, and trained for the ministry.  He was a beloved pastor, church planter, and brother in Christ.  He married the love of his life, Tamara on June 25th, 1988.  They spent 34 wonderful and blessed years together.  He loved his family so much and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.  Cherished husband of Tamara.  Loving father & grandfather of Nathanael R. Rust, Alaina M. Kauffman (Ronald), children Landon, McKenna & Maverick;  and Amy G. Southern (Malcolm “Alex”), children Ezra & Briley.  Dear brother of Helen (nee Rust) Fraser (Al), John Rust (Gail), Maryanne (nee Rust) Heath and Ted Rust.  Lovingly remembered by his father and mother-in-law; Roland & Brenda Charbonneau, his brother-in-law Michael Charbonneau (Sandi), sister-in-law Debbie Unger (Chris) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who’s lives he touched.  Rick is predeceased by his parents, the late Theo & Elizabeth Rust.  Rick loved serving the Lord whether it was pastoring, encouraging others or planting churches.  Although we rejoice that he is in Heaven, we will miss his infectious laugh, outgoing personality, and his heart for people.  Rick dedicated his life to the cause of Christ. Impacting so many lives.  He would want everyone to continue serving the Lord with all their heart.  A funeral service to honour and celebrate Rick’s life will be held in Corunna, Michigan.  Rick’s homegoing service will be live streamed in the auditorium of Bethel Baptist Church, Hwy 24 East Simcoe on Friday morning, August 5th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  All are welcome to attend.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
