Anne SALCAK

SALCAK, Anne Dorothy (nee Bahula) - of Nanaimo, BC, formerly Simcoe, ON.  It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anne on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Kiwanis Village Lodge, Nanaimo.  She was born in Czechoslovakia in 1926. She immigrated as a young child to Canada with her family and they settled in Norfolk County.  She met and married the love of her life Tony Salcak and they lived in Simcoe for most of their lives.  In 2013 they decided to move to Nanaimo BC to be closer to family.  Anne was well known for her dedication to family and friends and was loved and respected for her genuine kindness, warm hugs and unconditional love.  She loved to cook and bake especially for special occasions.  Along with Tony she was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Simcoe and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Nanaimo.  Survived by her children Rick (Mary) Salcak of Nanaimo, Toni (Bernie) Smink of Calgary and proud grandmother of Amy (Jason) Shepherd of Nanaimo and Megan Salcak of Vancouver and much-loved great-grandchildren of Avery and Charlotte Shepherd of Nanaimo.  Also survived by much loved nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the Czech Republic.  Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband Tony (2014), sister Mary Deserrano (2012), sister Edna Bahula (2000) and brother John Bahula Jr (1998), as well as her brothers-in-law Joe Salcak (2019) and Bob Nunn (1978) and sisters-in-law Dianne Proctor (2017) and Anna Nunn (2015).  Friends are invited to share their memories of Anne with her family for a memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 211 Union St. Simcoe on Friday, August 12th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.  An interment of ashes will immediately follow at Port Dover Cemetery returning to St. Mary’s Church Hall for a small reception.
