McALPINE, Frances “Heather” - passed away peacefully on Saturday May 14th, 2022 at Windermere Care Centre in Vancouver, B.C. in her 80th year.  While her body failed her, her mind, courage and wicked sense of humour remained until the end.  Loving sister of Jean Dykstra (late John) of Simcoe, ON.  Heather was predeceased by her parents Kenneth James and Nan, her brother Bruce and her sister Patricia.  Heather was born in Orangeville ON, educated at Simcoe High School and trained to be a nurse at the Victoria Nursing School in London.  Years later she achieved a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education at Edinburgh University in Scotland UK.  This was followed by her Doctorate Degree from Murdoch University in Perth, Australia where she lived for 6 years. As a well published professor she focused on the ethical side of nursing. As a nurse educator she instilled in her nurses a strong commitment of compassionate service.  She was a traveler seeing most of the world and making many treasured friends wherever she went.  Simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Heather.  She loved a quiet evening with friends, a glass of wine in her hand.  At Heather’s request, no funeral service will take place.  Cremation has occurred.  Personal condolences and memories may be shared at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  In lieu of flowers please give an extra charitable donation in her memory to your favourite health care facility.  “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
