Death Notices

SLADE, LilyAnn (nee Polischuk) 1932-2022 - called home at the Cedarwood Village Nursing Home, Simcoe on Friday, May 20th, 2022 in her 90th year.  She was predeceased by her husband Clifford ‘Harold’ Slade (2018) of 67 years.  Mother of C. Jason Slade (Kim) of Baden, with grandchildren Kyle (Vivian) and Kara.  Predeceased by her parents Carélia ‘Carl’ Polischuk Sr. (1974) and Telka Terplevietch (1979).  LilyAnn was a well-recognized preschool educator for 35 years.  She established three licensed Nursery Schools in Norfolk County: Little Learners Nursery School and Daycare Centre, Children’s Creative Centre and Bambi’s Nursery School and Daycare Centre.  She also taught preschool Sunday School and Summer Bible School for St. James United Church in Simcoe and was a cub scout leader.  In 2001 she worked towards the Sand Valley School Reunion and wrote the history and memories of Our School Days at Sand Valley and was preparing two children’s books ‘Show Me’ and ‘Help Me’.  She also enjoyed being a tour guide for the Simcoe Panorama.  LilyAnn leaves her one sister, Olga Schweitzer (late Doug) and their children Margaret Dargie of Simcoe; Carol Harington (Steve) of Woodstock and Keith Schweitzer of Thunder Bay; as well as Janis Polischuk (late Billie) and their children Susan Blum (Roger) of Saskatoon; Sharon Polischuk (John Graham) of Toronto; Brad Polischuk (Melissa) of Huntsville.  She was also predeceased by her brother Carl Polischuk Jr.  A private family service was held at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe, ON  N3Y 3R3 in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in memory of LilyAnn are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
