Mary EDMONDS

EDMONDS, Mary Ellen (nee Dougherty) 1923 – 2022  With Bob, together again!  In the loving presence of all of her children Mary left this world on January 13th, 2022 in her 99th year.  Born to John Dougherty and Florence (nee Mullen) on May 31st, 1923.  Married to Robert “Bob” Edmonds (1920-1986), together they raised a large loving family in Simcoe.  Cherished mother of Michael (Dale), David (Frances), John (Patty Nixon), Margret McGuire (Kevin), Catherine Edwards (Steve), Peter (Debbie), Paul (Susan) and Tim (Kelly).  Lovingly remembered by her 21 grandchildren, Micaela Santos (Marco), Ryan (Ashleigh), Sarah (Dave), Rob, Alison (Zach), Justin Nixon, Curtis Nixon, John McGuire (Greta), Meagan Cook (Chris), Erin Brownridge (David), Jennifer Morsy (Hesham), Tim Edwards (Pauline), Amanda Ferreira (Paul), Ashley (Brodie Beaudry), Brandon, Sean (Olivia), Nolan (Mckenzie), Dave Bidinosti, Andrew Bidinosti (Savannah), Laura McKeever (Neil), Katie (Dan Derkach).  Also survived by her 13 great grandchildren Mariah Santos, Brett & Anderson Edmonds, Scarlett Pocius, Carter & Callie McGuire, Asher, Briar & Ellody Cook, Oliver & Quinn Brownridge, Elisabeth & Jacob Edwards.  Survived by her brother Peter Dougherty (Karen).  Mary will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family & many friends.  Predeceased by her sister Frances Dougherty and by brothers James and John Dougherty (Elaine) & by her much loved sister-in-law Helen Edmonds.  A graduate of Brescia College.  Mom taught for many years mostly at Simcoe Composite School.  As a charter member of Simcoe Little Theatre, she with her husband Bob took part in many enjoyable productions.  Mary was very involved in the University Women’s Club for decades.  As a world traveler she visited every continent, often taking her children and grandchildren.  Her home was always a place to celebrate special family events and holidays.  The love and guidance of mom and dad will follow us throughout the generations.  Thanks to the ParaMed PSW’s and the care partner nurses for the special care given to our mother.  A private funeral “by invitation only” will be held at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North  Simcoe N3Y 3R3 with Pastor Ward Taylor officiating.  Private interment at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Mary are asked to consider the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.  Donations may be mailed to the Jason Smith Funeral Chapel.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
