DARLING, Elizabeth Grace (nee Heggie) 1933-2021 - passed away at the Heritage Retirement Living, Simcoe on Friday, October 1st, 2021 in her 99th year.  Elizabeth was born August 23rd, 1923 in Hungary.  She came to Winnipeg, Canada with her parents, the late Joseph & Elizabeth Heggie (nee Nemeth) where they resided for a year before moving to Welland, ON.  Elizabeth started her first job in a photography studio in Welland and even helped with tobacco harvest when her parents went on to purchase a farm in Nixon.  She pursued her love of arts and photography throughout her career, working in studios in St. Catharines and then Hamilton where she met her husband, the late William Stanley Darling (Oct. 31, 1982).  Family obligations led her to a move to Brockville, ON to help Stan manage his father’s properties.  Elizabeth and Stan continued to own and manage many properties after his father’s passing.  In 2006, Elizabeth decided to move back to Hamilton, ON, a city she and Stan had a fond attachment to.  She continued to own and manage properties until she finally sold the last one in 2016.  During her lifetime, Elizabeth travelled widely and had a great affinity with Spain, collecting many works of art from artists she met there.  Elizabeth was the beloved sister of the late Joseph Lloyd Heggie (2015) and Betty (1988), Donald George Heggie (Marie), and Steve Heggie (Betty), and will be lovingly remembered my many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Cremation has taken place.  A private family service will be held at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe N3Y 3R3.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Elizabeth are asked to consider the Simcoe & District Humane Society.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
