Bob STANLEY

STANLEY, Robert “Bob” Claude (1938 – 2020) - passed away peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton after a courageous struggle with illness on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 in his 82nd year.  Bob is the beloved husband of Saundra Stanley of Port Rowan.  Cherished father of David Stanley (Louise) of Welland, and Rebecca Stanley (Robert Groves) of Campbellville.  Much loved grandfather of Robert and Kathleen.  Predeceased by his parents, the late Doris & Claude Stanley and by his sister Carole McMaster.  Bob was a longtime employee of Bell Canada starting in Simcoe and eventually retiring from the Brantford office.  After retirement, Bob discovered a love for woodworking and created many items.  He will be best remembered for his Muskoka chairs.   During retirement, he and Saundra operated Green Valley Bed and Breakfast from a century old farmhouse near Port Rowan where many fond memories were made with guests and family.  An avid fisherman throughout his life, he fished throughout Ontario but cherished his time with family fishing on Long Point Bay.  Bob was a proud member of the Long Point Lions Club and served as President in 2002/2003, the A2 district Treasurer and other positions over the years.  In honour, the Long Point Club presented Bob with the Helen Keller award and recently a lifetime membership for his service and efforts.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Bob with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe where a public visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11th, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  In following the Covid19 government guidelines for funerals, anyone wishing to attend must call the funeral home and pre-register your specific time to attend.  FACIAL COVERINGS MUST BE WORN BY ALL.  A private family funeral will be held with LPM Phyllis Buchner officiating.  Private interment of ashes at a later date.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Bob are asked to consider the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario or the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
