HOLMES, O. “Betty” Elizabeth (nee Barron) 1924-2020 – It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Betty at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Sunday, July 12th, 2020 in her 97th year.  Beloved wife of the late William Lyle Holmes (1989).  Cherished mother of Lynne Williamson (David) of Ancaster, children Michael (Rosanna) & Julie (Tim);  Bill Holmes (Janie) of North Bay, children Bill (Nancy), Jonathan & Stephen (Katie);  Gary Holmes (Jayne) of Turkey Point, children Karen (Glen), Geoff (Jess) & Laura (Richard);  Wendy Wilson (Larry) of Waterford, children Adam (Lisa) & Greg (Nicole); Murray Holmes (Wendy) of Simcoe and John Holmes (Maryanne) of Simcoe, children Braeden & Devin.  Betty will be lovingly remembered by 20 great grandchildren.  Dear sister-in-law of Betty Barron of Waterford.  Predeceased by her parents Frank & Eva Barron and by siblings Mary Brown (Robert) and Joseph Barron (BettyLou).  Bettys pride and joy was her family.  Her most treasured moments were family gatherings.  Mom was a very kind, loving and gracious lady and was much loved by her family and those who knew her.  Betty was an incredibly independent person well into her 90’s.  Living on her own and still driving her vehicle until 2018 and then moving to Cedar Crossing Retirement Home.   Betty was an avid card player and enjoyed playing with her group of friends at Cedar Crossing.  Betty also enjoyed watching the Yankees on TV.  The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff at Cedar Crossing for their care and compassion shown towards Mom.  A private family visitation & service will be held with interment at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.  Arrangements entrusted to the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe N3Y 3R3.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Betty are asked to consider the Simcoe & District Humane Society.  A Life Well Lived.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
