Ken DAULBY
Thursday May 14, 2020

DAULBY, Kenneth Arthur - It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Arthur Daulby announce his passing on May 14th, 2020 in his 92nd year.  His wish was honoured, and he passed away peacefully in the home he built in the early sixties surrounded by his family.  He was married to the love of his life, Mildred Daulby (Hall) for 56 years until her passing and was a loving and devoted father to Nancy (Bernie) Anstett, Robert Daulby, Shelley (Tim) Watters, Kevin (Ronda) Daulby, and Lyn (Leigh) Hall.  His many grandchildren and great grandchildren will dearly miss their Papa, as will his faithful fur companion, Gidget.  Ken, a hard working husband and father, was committed to caring for his family as a dedicated employee at Canada Wire & Cable for many years before deciding to start his own wire drawing & sign business at home.  He continued to run Norfolk Signs “your one stop sign shop” well into his 70’s.  Ken led a very active lifestyle competing at high levels in swimming, diving, hockey and golf.  He even shot a hole in one at Woodside Greens at the age of 85.  When not playing sports, Ken used his creative flair to design signs and make many beautiful pieces of woodwork.  It was his warmth and ability to make others feel valued for which he will be most remembered.  He was always willing to help those around him.  Over the years he welcomed many people into his home, be it for a place to stay, or to enjoy fellowship and a fun time together.  The Daulbys was a neighbourhood hangout just the way Ken and Mildred liked it.  A special thank you to his friend and caretaker Cathy Lantin and her son Nathan for all their dedication, love and support that allowed him to stay in his home until his passing.  They cared for him and got him through the difficult times when his family could not.  We are so grateful for the compassion and comfort they provided both he and Mildred in their later years.  A celebration of life and the interment of ashes will be held in Ken’s honour at a later date.  The JASON  SMITH  FUNERAL  CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe, ON  N3Y 3R3 in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in Ken’s memory are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Society.  Online donations can be made at alzheimer.ca.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com
