Rick GILES

GILES, Rick M.  – surrounded by his loving family & friends at his home on Friday, February 7th, 2020 in his 65th year.  Cherished husband and best friend of Christi Giles of Port Ryerse.  Loving father & grandfather of Wes Giles of Port Dover, his children Tegan & Amelia;  Jennifer Banfield (Chris) of Port Ryerse, their children Jaden & Myles;  and Jorden Giles (Steph) of Vittoria.  Rick will be sadly missed by his siblings Ray Giles (Liz), Gord “Spook” Giles, Bob “Fabe” Giles (Brenda), all of Port Dover, Ron Giles (Henny) of Simcoe and the late Joe Giles.  Lovingly remembered by Christi’s family, her father Dick Taylor (Carolyn) of Port Dover and by her siblings Jeff Taylor of Langton & Susan Taylor of Kitchener.  Predeceased by his parents, Raymond & Lily Giles and by his mother-in-law Doris Tiffin (2015) and her late husband Barry.  Rick was the proud creator, builder and owner of Rick’s Auto Body in Simcoe; now Fix Auto Norfolk County for 40 years.  He loved his work and strived to have a business that anyone who came through the door felt welcome and comfortable.  Rick accomplished everything he set his mind to and did it with determination, patience and a smile on his face.  His zest for life and love for his family and friends shone through everything he did.  At Rick’s request, a private family graveside service will be held in the spring.  Due to the restrictions of the covid19 outbreak, the celebration of Rick’s has been postponed but details will be annouced in the paper for a later date.  The JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Rick are asked to consider the Ronald McDonald House or the Cancer Support & Resource Program.  A sincere special thanks to CBI nurses Melissa & Alana and the staff of 3E at the Norfolk General Hospital who cared for him so well during his stay there.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
