Thursday January 30, 2020

LENNON, Gary Frederick (1941-2020)– surrounded by his loving family at his home on Thursday, January 30th, 2020 in his 79th year.  Beloved husband of Vicki Lennon of Simcoe.  Cherished father & papa of Julie Lennon of Simcoe and Robert Lennon (Becky) of Simcoe, their girls Katelyn & Amanda.  Dear brother of Don Lennon (late Treva – 2018) of Arizona, John Lennon (Gail) of Mitchell and the late Shirley Hause (2007).  Gary will be lovingly remembered by Vicki’s brother Ron Abbey (late Cheryle – 2013) and by many nieces, nephews & extended family.  Predeceased by this parents Harry (1996) & Bernice (1989) Lennon.  Gary served his community in many ways and had fun along the way.  He joined the Simcoe Kinsmen Club in the 1960’s for 21 years receiving the Honour of Life Member in 1982 along with his wife Vicki.  Gary is a former member of the Simcoe Lions Club, the Who Did It Club and the United Alumni Drum & Bugle Corp, until its disbanding in 2010.  His love of drum corp dated back to the 60’s with playing a horn with the Simcoe Royal Blues.  He enjoyed curling for many years but his greatest passion was golfing.  He was a member of the Norfolk Golf & Country Club where he served as Men’s Captain.  Along with his brother Don, his love of golf took him to many courses all over Ontario and Arizona.  Gary loved to travel with regular visits to the Caribbean and Florida with friends.  Gary was the owner & operator of G. Snyder Shoes after the retirement of Mr. Snyder.  Gary saw & fitted shoes for up to three generations of families in the Simcoe area, even his family doctor when he was a youngster.  Gary spent many years on the executive of the BIA (Business Improvement Association).  His concern for the downtown core was ongoing even after his retirement.  In his retirement, Gary’s love of retail led him to part-time work at Budds Department Store, splitting time between Guelph & Kitchener.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Gary with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Friday, February 7th, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  A private family funeral will be held with Rev. Bryan Robertson officiating.  Private interment of ashes at a later date.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Gary are asked to consider the Norfolk General Hospital “Cat Scanner”, the Who Did It Club or the Simcoe & District Humane Society.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
