Dorothy PERRY

PERRY, Dorothy Alberta (nee Deacon) 1921 - 2016 – surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Friday, March 25th, 2016 in her 96th year.  Cherished wife of the late Tom Perry (2014).  Predeceased by her beloved children, the late Brian Perry (his wife Janice) of Waterdown, and the late Diane Day (her husband Kimball) of Simcoe.  Loving grandmother & great grandmother of Ryan Perry, Stewart Day (Katie), their daughters Chloe & Ava;  Allison Day and Kirsten Day.  Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Bernice Logan of Burlington and June Despres of Barrie.  Predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Matilda Deacon and by her older sister Mural Dunk.  Born January 25th, 1921 in Toronto, Dorothy spent much of her life in the Greater Toronto area.  In the 1960’s, Dorothy built a cottage on Whitestone Lake with her husband and daughter, the home of many cherished Perry and Day family memories. Throughout her life, “Dodo” was a devoted sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to the many whose lives she brightened with kindness and care.  She enjoyed car trips with her husband of 71 years, Tom, visiting the Muskoka’s and many restaurants in Southern Ontario. Dorothy had a special bond with nieces Marsha and Shirley and each of her four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.  The Day and Perry families would like to thank Dr. Wynveen and staff, the March of Dimes, the Norfolk General Hospital, condo neighbours, and friends Beth, Karen and Pam for their wonderful care and kindness to Dorothy prior to & during her illness.  Friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy’s life with her family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. N. Simcoe on Thursday, March 31st, 2016 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.  A private family interment will follow visitation at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Dorothy are asked to consider the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or volunteering your time in working with seniors.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
