VERBOOM, John – surrounded by his loving family & after a brief illness, John has gone to be with his Lord & Saviour at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Friday, June 27th, 2014 in his 85th year.  Beloved husband of 62+ years to Corinne Verboom of Renton.  John & Corinne immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1952.  John acquired his plumber’s licence and farmed until his retirement.  He also owned & operated Simcoe Water Conditioning for many years.  His favourite hobby was gardening and he loved fixing things.  Left to mourn are his children Diana Smuck (Robert), Nancy DiCosimo (Jack), Ed Verboom (Christine), Barb Fletcher (Dave), Mary Jane Pilgrim (Jim) & Karen Shuh.  Cherished grandpa to Mike Smuck (Eva), Tim Smuck (Jennifer), Adam Smuck (Angie), Andrea Geroux (Scott), Stephanie Maxim, Jeff Verboom (Ricci Lauchlan), Holly Verboom (Jason Van Den Neucker), Vanessa Fletcher, Matthew Fletcher, Jenna Pilgrim, Jason Pilgrim and Andrew Shuh.  Proud great grandpa to 7 great grandchildren.  Brother, brother-in-law and uncle to family in Canada and Holland.  Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Monday, June 30th, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  A private family burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Smithville prior to John’s funeral service which will be held from Emmanuel Bible Church, 24 Churchill Circle, Simcoe on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Raymond Thompson & Paul Fletcher will officiate.  Those wishing to donate in memory of John are asked to consider the Rural Life Mission or Emmanuel Bible Church.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
