DAWSON, Stan (1941-2022) - passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 8th, 2022 in his 81st year after a long and brave journey with cancer.  Beloved husband of 55 years to Donna Dawson (nee Priest).  Cherished father of Mark Dawson (Jennie), son Jacob; Linda Luker (Aaron) and fun-loving grandfather of Austin Luker.  Much loved brother of Shirley Dawson, Gary Dawson, Cathy (Al) Swick and Dan (Debbie) Dawson. Stan will be fondly remembered by Donna’s siblings Doug Priest (Margaret), Keith Priest (Irene), and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.  Predeceased by his younger sister Wendy Pursley (1982) and his parents the late Ken and Dorothy Dawson.  Stan enjoyed telling stories of his long-standing career in advertising sales and after forty years with the Simcoe Reformer, Lakeshore Shopper and Radio Station he had some stories to tell.  As a long-standing member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge no. 329 in Jarvis and he took pride in being able to help his community. Stan was actively involved in Scouting and many local events including the Friendship Festival, Alligator Tugs, and the Norfolk County Fair to name a few.  His community minded nature continued in retirement with his work for the Charity Food Bank of Norfolk being of great importance to him. Stan also became a skilled woodworker and could often be found in his workshop creating his masterpieces for entry to Norfolk County Fair and the Eisings Christmas Craft Show.  Stan loved taking his family on an annual trip to the cottage on Twelve Mile Lake where he would spend the week telling his jokes, cruising in his boat, fishing his favourite spots, hiking to the "diamond mine" and day tripping to various tourist sites followed by evenings of playing cards and board games until the kids couldn't keep their eyes open.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Stan with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe N3Y 3R3 for visitation on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  A Masonic Service will commence at 7:00 p.m.  Stan’s funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Love officiating.  Private interment of ashes at a later date.  Immediately following the service, a reception will take place at the Norfolk Golf and Country Club, 200 Argyle St, Simcoe, ON.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Stan are asked to consider the Cancer Support & Resource Program, their local food bank or to simply carry out a random act of kindness in his honour.  The family wishes to send a special thanks to the medical and support staff who provided care for Stan and made it possible for us to keep him at home.
