DONALD, Ellen E. (nee Page) - passed away at the Norview Lodge, Simcoe, on Sunday, April 5th, 2020, in her 99th year.  Beloved wife of William (Bill) Donald of Simcoe.  Daughter of the late Frank & Elspeth Page.  Ellen grew up in New Dundee and obtained her Teaching Certificate from Hamilton Normal School in 1940.  She taught in rural schools in Oxford and Waterloo Counties until 1944 when she went to teach in Echo Place, now a suburb of Brantford.  She stayed there until 1949-1950 when she took a 1-year course at Macdonald Institute, Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph.  She was very interested in music and, while in Brantford, she was active in various choral and other musical societies including the Brantford Symphony Orchestra, as well as several church organizations.  It was at one of these that she met her future husband, Bill Donald.  Ellen and Bill retired to Simcoe in 1986 from Palmerston after running a successful greenhouse business there.  Ellen is survived by her husband, several cousins, nieces and nephews.  A private family memorial service will be held at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe, at a later date.  Private interment of ashes will take place at the Smithville Union Cemetery at a date to be determined.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Ellen are asked to consider a charity of one’s choice.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com (519) 426-0199
