Wednesday December 04, 2019

DAVIS, Raymond Victor (1945-2019) –  surrounded by his loving family, on December 4th, 2019 in his 75th year.  Cherished husband and soulmate of Sandra Reid, Simcoe.  Loving father of Cheryl Nelson (Grant), Shelley Jarvis (Stuart), Carla Bedard (Bryan), Steve Davis (Kris), Arleen Lauzon, and Dr. Andrew Willis (Lisa). Treasured Grandpa of Alyssa, Jenelle, & Brendhan Nelson; Taylor & Logan Jarvis; Zander Bedard; Jarred & Kailee Davis; Keegan & Carley Lauzon: and Lily & Daisy Willis. Dear brother of Carolyn Wybouw (Wayne), and recently reunited several sisters of the Nunn family.  Ray will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and his favorite aunt, Donna Leask.  Also remembered by the mother of his children, Margaret Davis.  A graduate of Waterford High School, London Teachers’ College, Wilfrid Laurier University (BA), and Brock University (MEd), Ray was recognized as a respected member of the teaching profession and became a Principal in Norfolk County and then in North Bay.  After retiring, due to his first bout with cancer, Ray thoroughly enjoyed working for Nipissing University, teaching classroom methods, and supervising student teachers. He was well thought of for his professional work ethic, quiet dignity, sense of humor, organizational skills, and dedication to all students.  Ray loved sports and participated in baseball, hockey, curling, cross country and golf.  During his lifetime he coached teams at various levels, including one provincial champion. He was an avid fan, enjoying attending the games of the Blue Jays, Toronto Rock, and Raptors.  Another love is theatre as he and Sandra attended many plays and concerts.  Ray was also a vicious card player!  He kept in touch with many friends through Facebook and they looked forward to his daily Snoopy posts. Being a people person, he and Sandra loved travelling the world. His favorite place to relax was sitting on the deck at our cottage, early in the early morning, sipping his cup of coffee.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Ray with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Thursday, December 12th, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  A celebration of life will be held in the chapel on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.  A reception will follow at the Simcoe Legion – Branch 79, 200 West St. Simcoe.  Those wishing to donate in memory of Ray are asked to consider the Cancer Society, Norfolk General Hospital, or Me to We.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
