Elmer COX

COX, Elmer Edwin – at the end of a life well lived, surrounded by his loving family at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 in his 92nd year.  Beloved husband of 65 years to the late May (nee Holden) Cox (2015).  Loving father of Craig Cox (Carolyn) of Simcoe, Ryan Cox (Yvonne) of Tillsonburg, Dale Fettes (Will) of Simcoe, Debby Kopach (Mike) of Waterford, Karen Chamberlain (Robert) of Waterford, Alan Cox (Lenore) of Simcoe, Kevin Cox of Simcoe and Neil Cox (Janet) of Boston.  Cherished grandfather of Charles Cox (Margrit), Carrianne Hall (Stuart), Heather Cox (Bill MacFarlane), Tracy Whelan (Graham), Brian Fettes (Lisa), Barbie Loder (Shane), Brooke Armstrong (Jon), Bradley Fettes (Jenn), Alex Long (Liz), Jesse Long, Michael Chamberlain (Liz), Laura Hodgson (Eric), Adam Cox (Sarah), Aimee Cox and many great grandchildren.  Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his sister Marion Watson (Jim) of Mississauga, and by May’s siblings, Shirley Ross (late Bill) of Simcoe, Joanne Sanderson of Alliston, John Holden (Carolyn) of Peterborough and by several nieces and nephews.  Elmer served for 20 years in the Canadian Militia with the 56th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA Reserve Unit retiring as the Regiment Commander at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  He was a 47 year member of Branch 123 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Waterford.  Elmer enjoyed his family and friends.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Elmer with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Tuesday, October 24th, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  Elmer’s funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
