Captain Thomas MCQUEEN
Monday November 28, 2016

McQUEEN, Captain Thomas -  July 23rd, 1987 – November 28th, 2016  We are devastated at the loss of Thomas, but know that he was doing an important job, and that he passed doing what he loved. From a young age, drawing jets on his homework, through Air Cadets at 611 Squadron, he never wavered in his desire to be a fighter pilot. He was proud to carry on his grandfather’s legacy, who was in the Air Force during WWII.  Thomas lived and loved with passion. He was soon to be married to the love of his life, Caitlin; his smile was always bigger when he was with her.  Thomas loved speed, whether it was on a boat, his dirt bike, or breaking the sound barrier in his jet.  He was always close with family, and was a clown who kept us laughing.  Growing up on the farm, he loved being outdoors, and always found beauty in nature.  He enjoyed living in Cold Lake; and was often hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.  An extraordinary friend, he loved everyone and always took care of others before himself.  Thomas touched the lives of so many people, and he will be deeply missed.  We are extremely thankful for the support we have received from our community and from the military.  We truly feel that the nation is grieving with us, and are grateful.  Cherished fiancé of Caitlin McQueen (Skelhorn) of Cold Lake, Alberta.  Loving son of Dr. Tom & Edith McQueen of Fisherville.  Dear brother of Natalie of Tennessee, Emily of Fisherville and Aaron (Shannen) of Fisherville.  Much loved grandson of Karoline Pfneisl (late John) of Burlington.  Predeceased by grandparents Patricia & Duncan McQueen.  Thomas will be loving remembered by aunts, uncles, cousins & many extended family.  A public funeral service for Captain McQueen will be held at the CANADIAN WARPLANE HERITAGE MUSEUM, 9280 Airport Rd. Mount Hope, on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 starting at 11:00 a.m.  Pastors Rick Buck & Steve Faulkner will officiate.  Private family interment:  Thursday, December 8th at The National Cemetery of Canada - Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Captain McQueen with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Monday, December 12th, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Captain McQueen are asked to consider Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or the Movember Foundation.  Personal online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com  (519) 426-0199
