Raymond NELLES

NELLES, Raymond Clair (1933-2015) – Passed into the loving arms of his Lord & Saviour, at the Brantford General Hospital on November 3rd, 2015, in his 83rd year.  Cherished husband of 63 years of Lois J. M. Nelles (nee Miles) of Boston.  Beloved father of Wendy Elaine Nelles of Toronto.  Lovingly remembered by brother-in-law Keith Miles (Margaret) of Waterford; cousins Eleanor Jamieson of Ottawa, Douglas McFadzean of Brantford, Glenn Cherry of Hagersville; their spouses & families.  Predeceased by his parents Howard & Gladys (nee Cherry) Nelles, his stepmother Laura (nee Collver) Nelles, and his aunt Ruth (nee Nelles) McFadzean.  Raymond was the sixth generation of a United Empire Loyalist family to own and operate Woodhaze Farms on the Cockshutt Road.  He was a past president of the Nelles Family Association;  an active member of Scotland Baptist Church;  a member of The Gideons (Simcoe Chapter);  a retired director of Christian Service Centres (Key Bible Clubs);  a friend of many missionaries and evangelists;  and a generous supporter of many charities.  Raymond was also a former director of the Norfolk Co-operative (1980-1996), and active in farm organizations in Brant & Norfolk counties.  During his earlier farming years, Raymond milked a large herd of Holsteins, operated a livestock trucking business, produced maple syrup, and sold baled hay and straw.  Friends are invited to share their memories of Raymond with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North, Simcoe, for visitation Monday November 9th from 7-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday November 10th from 2-4 p.m.  Raymond’s memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Bible Church, 24 Churchill Circle, Simcoe, on Wednesday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Humphries officiating.  A private burial has taken place at Greenwood Cemetery, Waterford.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s memory would be much appreciated to The Gideons International in Canada, Key Bible Clubs, or Rural Life Mission.  Online condolences at www.smithfuneralchapel.com.
